RE: Digest Number 1162

Subject: Cult: weeds
I too have been plagued with weeds this year. Here in Western Montana its
been awfully dry and hot with plenty of forest fires burning just a few
miles down the road. My main TB bed was completely clean this spring, it
looked so wonderful too. Last fall and this spring a good sprinkling of
Preen was laid down in the paths and in the space between clumps. But
I'm now am faced with weeds that will not quit. I can only work but a
couple of hours because of the heat and I feel like someone in the middle of
a jungle trying to find their way down a path to the other side of the
jungle. I am now wondering about the effectiveness of Preen. I did spray
a post emergent grass killer and it did work well so don't have to worry
about grass in that area, however other flower beds have grass that I must
attack. I thought I had a handle on all my flower beds this spring but by
this time of year I wonder what I've done to myself, like: not stayed on
top of the weed population as well as having plants too close together. Oh,
some days are just meant for staying in bed and looking at Iris catalogues
and dreaming of what I may want to order in the future.
