Hi Anner,
You are not incorrect. Some slight grooming may be done on seedlings, but no
parts should ever be removed. It is a good idea to remove dirt and insects
and moist remains of old petals that are resting on other blooms or keeping
buds from opening. Make sure all three falls are down on newly opened blooms
and make sure the stalk is securely wedged in the container. Other than
these common sense things, leave seedlings alone to be judged on the
branching, buds, etc.
