CULT: Golden Oldies reports

Hi folks,

If you don't grow any Louisiana iris, you can delete this message right now!

I am working on a project for the SLI and would be pleased to learn if any iris-talkers grow any of the following cultivars. Most of these are "Golden Oldies". I am interested to learn:

a) do you grow a particular cultivar,
b) if so, how does it perform in your garden?
c) alternatively, do you know if a particualr cultivar is growing in your area in another garden?
d) see b) above.

The listing is as follows:

Fulvala (Dykes, 1910),
Elizabeth Washington (Washington, 1931),
Haile Selassie (MacMillan, 1943),
Mary S. Deballion (Caroline Dorman, 1943),
Caroline Dorman (Caroline Dorman, 1943),
Louise Austin (Arcenaux, 1945),
Cherry Bounce (Nelson, 1946),
Lockett's Luck (Thibbault, 1947),
Rose of Abbeyville (Caroline Dorman, 1949)
The Khan (Caroline Dorman, 1949),
Pink Joy Roberts (Roberts, 1954)
Ruth Holleyman (Holleyman, 1954),
W.B. MacMillan (Conger, 1957),
Margaret Hunter (MacMillan, 1970).
This I Love (Chowning, 1973),
Trail of Tears (Chowning, 1973),

Please reply to me PRIVATELY at irishaven@pip.com.au
to save clogging up the iris-talk airwaves.

Any information about culture, growing habits, when you last saw any of these growing and where would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,
Heather Pryor,
