Chuck, the seedling is Iris variegata(Beardsley) x mellita. But
neither the variegata nor the mellita (which is now deceased) has
ever rebloomed for me. I'm sort of in a zone 6 / zone 7 area in
Maryland. Do you think that it may be too warm for the variegatas to
rebloom here? The Beardsley clone is supposed to rebloom somewhere;
and another clone I have (Cook) is supposed to be very similar and
may rebloom. I've grown them for four years with not a single rebloom
stalk. What is the timing of the rebloom for your variegatas? Do they
bloom spring and fall, or more continuous? And do you get rebloom
from any other bearded species (especially diploids)?
