For the past year, all my louisianas have been in pots. All were planted in
a similar planting mix which has worked great for me in the ground. About
seven were in 1-gallon pots. All were sickly, stunted, and languishing
except for Cajun Merry which was overgrowing its pot with enormous rhizomes.
Three in 5-gallon pots were big and strong. Six were planted in a
newspaper-lined laundry basket; they were not sickly, but were stunted and
showed little growth. Five more similar baskets were placed in a 12" deep
wading pool with about 6" of water; they were all sickly, stunted, and
languishing except for the one containing Godzilla, which was fairly strong
and showed modest increase. Those five baskets had been temporarily
transplanted from my yard, where they had been incredibly healthy. Finally,
I transplanted all but two (less favored) varieties to a new bed yesterday,
where I hope they will be happy. Don't know why the overall poor results
with potting them, or why the 5-gallon buckets seemed to work better than
the (larger) laundry baskets.

out of Rock Star are reblooming. Half of the iris I bought from Blyth this
year are blooming too, but that's just a form of seasonal jet lag.
