I have all of the checklists and I am working on the electronic
checklist (it's coming, it's coming).
I use the electronic checklist for various purposes (especially name
lookup), but I use the paper checklist for recreation!
1.) The book lists all the hybridizers (generally) with their addresses.
2.) The book lists all the cultivars and you cannot simply isolate one.
Invariably I look up a particular cultivar and marvel at the precision
Keith Keppel or Joe Ghio display in their descriptions, then wander up
and down the same page to see what else has been introduced that decade
AND by whom. I'm constantly amazed at the number of people who are
introducing iris and by the number of those people I haven't heard of.
Makes my purchase plans seem so mean-spirited.
There's just something about a good book late at night.
Regards,
Sandy Ives (who has a digging list to attend to...)
