Re: OT-PLANTS: pink wild petunia (Ruellia)


The one I found is either Ruellia humilis or R. caroliniensis.  It is a
bit intermediate with these two - not completely without hairs and the
upper leaves don't have petioles while the lower ones do.  I mowed right
thru the middle of the population - about half have typical blue-purple
flowers, the others are a very nice pink.

Dennis, is your pink Ruellia a cultivar?

Charlie Jenkins, the pink ruellia is called Chi-Chi.  It's botanical

<I do know that there is a pink form of Ruellia brittoniana, but that is

a Mexican native, that supposedly is not hardy north of Zone 8.  Mark A.
