Re: Growing & Selling Small Scale/ Commercial

Hello Jacke,
The state of Indiana does not seem to have much in the way of regulation for
nurseries that I can find. Been in business for about 7 years now. I have
contacted my local extension office three or four times to talk things over,
requesting information. No one can give positive answers when it comes to
import-export, etc. I am told there is no state inspection system for nurseries.
All I have is a state license to collect taxes and let them know where to send
the papers to fill out and return with check each quarter. I did form a LLC for
personal protection and other reasons. You will also want insurance over and above
your homeowners for the business. Not expensive for liability only.
We live in a small town as well, nursery and display gardens are on our
property with the residence. We are located about 17 miles from Corydon on SR 64.
Come by and take a look is my best answer. Be glad to talk the heartaches, trials
and tribulation.. along with success ...of small nurseries with you.
