Ellen, and all:
I do not know of anyone on this forum who has been critical of John Jones or
what he has been doing. I have combed through many email messages
concerning this very topic and have not been able to come up with one
incident where anyone has been critical of John or his efforts.
I have seen where John has asked for input from members of this forum, and
he has received exactly that. Positive feedback with perhaps even some new
ways of approaching this project. This seems to be helpful and spark
greater interest in what John is doing. If there were no feedback on this
topic then perhaps John would be pursuing something that no one is
interested in -- this does not seem to be the case. That is good news!
There are some clever people in this forum, and they are expressing some
good views. When no one is being critical of another there is no reason to
ask for apologies, nor for anyone to feel like they are being criticized.
These discussions seem to be educational and are sparking interest in the
project.
I salute all those involved and those offering their opinions.
Respectfully,
Iris Moose

Hello,
I know that some folks (obviously) feel strongly about this but
I know the background of the mountains that John and others had
to move to get this far. I know that no one would like the whole
AIS registrations and info on a CD Rom more than John Jones.
I am guessing that no one is telling him info that he doesn't
already especially the tomes that some folks keep sending with
the same info to this list. I am guessing that most of us don't
have a clue as what fields of data should/could/would be
suitable for AIS purposes. I realize that there have been
valuable nuggets suggested that would help the AIS Electronic
Services.
To be a critic is the easiest thing in the world. if you want to
help the committee and devote your time, do it.
John and I differ on many things but his work for the AIS
Electronic Services is not one of them. I, like so many others,
remember the genesis of all this 'stuff' years ago and I applaud
him and his hard-working committee.
Ellen
