Re: Decorative labels

about 35 years ago--one type of labels for plants were quite popular--they
were soft metal-silver in color--and you could write on them with a
ball-point pen--then using the attached wires--tie it onto the plant or a
small stake by the plant. I thought that they were wonderful--a label that
a little munchkin could not pull off the plant--and one that could be read
easily.

then I tried to reuse them on a different plant--and I could not smooth it
enough to be able to write the new name and have it legible--the indents
from the first name were still there-- needless to say--I stopped using
them--
So that is something to think about--if you want to start using ones
now--whether they be copper or aluminum--of course, if you plan on that
plant always being there--no problem--just write the name once and it will
be there forever!!! But my Iris have a turnover rate of about 4 years--
there are a few which are 'favorites' and will be here
forever--but--overall--I would not recommend the 'soft metal tags to write
names on'--
carryl in western Montana zone 3/4--where we are getting ready for our
annual sale--and where did the names go for the Iris--surely not with the
Iris now!!!!!
