Hey Linda,
Of course you did not send me any hate mail. I have loved our private
discussions, which I have kept private. You are right I was unaware of many
of the previous discussions relating to digitizing the iris information. I
am however very familiar with the "struggles associated with getting the
registration data into a digital form," because I organized the data from
scratch for over 45,000 daylily cultivars. I do know every phase of
starting with information on cards and previous printed lists, organizing it
electronically, and distributing via CD. "Been there--done that." :-)
No one should apologize if they have done nothing wrong. In fact, almost
entirely all my private messages I have received have been extremely
positive and people want to see this project through.
One question: "What are the goals that are expected to be achieved by
organizing the data electronically? And what is the order of priority of
these goals?"
Cheers,
Iris Moose

I sent Bobby some offlist messages about this which I hope were not
perceived as "hate" mail - that was certainly not my intent and I
apologize if it was seen that way. His original posts sounded like he
was unaware of the sociological (?) history and struggles associated
with getting the registration data into digital form which started 3?
years ago. Of course Iris Moose makes some good points! Although most
are the same ones made when the subject first came up 'way back when',
it never hurts to say them again.
I know better than to go offlist because it can so easily be perceived
as 'hate mail' even when that is not the intent. Apologies and much
groveling if needed.
