That might work, but it'd be likely to drive me as crazy as the deer. ;-)

That might work, but I don't have an underground sprinkler system on a
timer. :-(

With my luck, it'd just lure those same predators right into my yard. No
thanks!

I won't use an electric fence with all my 4-legged kids running around.

The surrounding woods is rife with black bear, but fortunately, none have
ever dared cross the hayfields between the woods and the house. I think
the dogs do manage to keep them at bay, though I did spot one on the
driveway at the edge of the hayfield last week. :-o
We do have a resident fox who has befriended one of our cats (much to my
initial discomfort). Billy and Mr. Fox have been spied napping together
on the driveway and playing together out by the barn on numerous
occasions over the last couple of years.

Same here. I don't think winter's as much a problem as is the
winter-spring transition.
Thank goodness our miserable 90+ heat wave has moved off! We're back to
comfortable 70's today, and last night I actually got a bit too cold with
the window fan on. I was beginning to dream of Alaska ... or perhaps the
Arctic Circle ... last week. Now I guess I'll stay put. ;-)
