Hope I used the correct subject tags....Does anyone have experience
with diploid TB or MTB's that rebloom, even occassionally?? I would
like to hybridize at the diploid level for reblooming. I had 'Lady
Emma', but after attempting quite a few crosses with diploids, found
out that it's parentage would make it an IB, even though it's
considered a MTB. That would explain it's refusal to set
seeds. 'Consummation' has been somewhat more cooperative, but has
never rebloomed for me here in MD.
On a related topic, I'm concerned that when breeding for heavy
reblooming tendency, there could be a danger of getting "bloomout"
tendency. I've searched the archives for info on bloomout and now
I've got all these new questions...
Has anyone noticed any irises (esp. old diploid historics or species)
with weird growth or flowering traits? Like an iris with fans that
continue growing new leaves after the flowerstalk has appeared...or a
variety that produces multiple flowerstalks from one fan....or one
that produces staggered and numerous increase fans (or increases from
increases).
