Donald, did you improvise this step or is that what most 'fresh
planters' do? Could I skip the drying and soaking steps and go straight
to refrigerated burritos? John, do you chill seeds, just skip the
drying/soaking steps?
That would be ideal if I could get them to germinate in
September/October! I'm willing to provide a pseudo cold frame (plant
bed covers & water bottle heat sinks) to keep them growing thru most of
the winter & could bring them indoors if we got any really severe
weather (it has been down to 25 below zero here, tho usually doesn't get
below zero).
Of course, there remains the potential for differences in
germination/dormancy behavior of seeds from cultivars that thrive on the
west coast and die a horrible death here, but I'm ready to experiment
some more.
