I've been using polymer's for two years but I live in El Paso, TX and do not
have clay. I have sand that I have amended with enough stuff to put a dent
in the national debt! Your needs are totally different. I feel you would be
better served if you worked on amending the clay rather than use polymers in
your soiless mix.
