How about one of the pump up water guns the kids were playing with
several years ago? One friend bought a BB gun, but of course you have
to come a lot closer than she has managed.
Our heavy clay discourages them, so the scat does little harm, it's
the birds they try to catch. They hang around the feeders and
watering trays. One very dry year I had a pair of wood ducks come
into my very small pond. Darn if a cat wasn't waiting for the pair.
