I am answering my own post because of several offlist inquiries.
Yes, emus have been released all over South Mississippi because
the emu ranching idea failed and it became unprofitable to keep
these birds, so they were released.
Just two weeks ago, I read in the paper that fifty-five emus were
released in a nearby county in North MS.
If the earlier post had been humor, I would have called it 'emusing'
and labeled it humor, but this is the truth. Emus have also been
released in Louisiana and Alabama. They will kick you if you try to
corner them, so leave them alone.
