P.S.  Personal experience is limited to one pod . . . many years ago. Just 
stuck the seed in a pot of potting soil and  watered well.  All conditions 
the same as later plantings except, of course, the temperatures.  Something 
with Corn Harvest.  Feedback I think.  Three or four came up.  Promptly died 
with first hard freeze.  Didn't use cold frame, etc.  No more sprouts in the 
spring.
