Re: HYB: Help - planting fresh seeds?

Thanks Betty - Did you plant them in outdoor pots/open garden/indoors?

What kind of medium? How deep?

I assume your TB pods don't normally ripen until after mine - since mine
are starting to split and some look like they won't be ripe for another
week or so, yours probably ripened ....early August? And by that time,
you probably get an occasional front cooling things off a little bit.

....So, .... thinking out loud.... outdoor soil germination temperature
might have been what it is in spring when they germinate after typical
fall planting...I think Vicki Craig posted for me last spring that their
seeds were starting to germinate at soil temps of 60oF.

So, maybe my experiment needs to start with seeing if I can find a cool
place to start seeds (preferably not indoors, where my lack of growing
ability is the sure kiss of death) - fortunately, I have my own spring
fed creek - maybe a misting 'Cobra' in the shade near the spring would
work. The fridge is too cold, but maybe I can find a junker cooler
somewhere... or maybe bury some ice in sawdust & plant on top,
or.....hmm, I wonder if the CO2 from dry ice would inhibit
germination.....or, do they sell cooling coils? Or maybe I can bury an
old truck radiator and hook it up to the garden hose........

Donald Eaves, you and I must have enough farm junk scattered around to
come up with something......

I have somes from seeds from a few crosses in damp paper towel burritos
in the fridge, but am not sure yet what I will do with them.
