John Jones...it is always fun to hear from you. As an AIS Director you are
definitely "in the know" about matters relating to this thread. Can you
share with us typical AIS members the Board Of Director's comments, ideas,
and views relating to why AIS membership remains in significant decline? As
a Director, what are you and the other Directors recognizing as a problem(s)
in this area (is membership decline even considered a problem by the
Directors?) and what plans or actions are being enacted at your level (Board
Director) to stabilize the membership decline or perhaps even turn it
around?
I am not sure where you got the impression from my letter that I am implying
that I know the reasons for the membership decline. If I knew the reasons
then I am sure I would have written my letter from a totally different
perspective. I can confess, though, that I do have some "ideas" as to why
the membership is decline, but I started this thread to hear from others and
let this topic steer itself and not be directed by me. I am here to
learn...and help where able.
A humble new iris grower,
Iris Moose

There are obviously reasons for the decline but it seems this subject is
often times considered taboo and not spoken in public places. Perhaps a bit
a open reality conversation would help identify problems and also initiate
new ideas that would strengthen AIS.
