Re: Re: HYB: germinating fresh TB seeds

Linda,

>Donald, will you leave them in the fridge until they germinate?

re new green seeds - this years' crop:
No, I think they will stay too cold to have much germination in the fridge.
I plan to leave in the fridge 'til Feb or March, when I could normally be
seeing the first germination on dried seeds planted in the fall. When I
took those out last fall, they began sprouting right away and I had thought
they'd wait 'til spring. So they get to stay in the fridge longer this
time.

Yes, but these aren't green seeds. Just pots with pods that had no
germination this spring. None were planted green, but dried and planted
last November.

>or to keep seedlings from cooking.

Well, this too. Actually, I'm more afraid of the grasshoppers than the
heat. But any further germination would surely be halted by setting them
out in the heat now. So, for a while they get to park in the A/C. If the
'hoppers go away, I could probably manage the heat by sinking the pots and
paying attention to keeping them watered. It would be preferred. Outside
plants manage better under my TLC than inside ones that I usually find a
bother.
