I am going to do it. I have a number of successful pods, so If I lose
them I will have a funeral. But they represent species I m growing well, so I
can take the risk. The seed I will pamper this coming year are from the seed
exchange as I try to extend the diversity of my species representation.
My pan is to go to the Martha Stewart Foundation Dirt Salon tomorrow
and get some potting soil which I will use to top my own seed infested
substratum, plant them and when winter comes, usually on a Tuesday in
February here, I will have put a good layer of leaves over the beds, and then
when spring, so unpredictable, comes I can take off this layer. However, I
will not cook this layer for breakfast porridge, but keep it close at hand
in case winter's disturbed brother comes back in late April or early May, and
can cover with my children up.
Having been growing seed in my new home for three years, I have a lot
of seedlings. I am considering where they should be planted out in my yard,
and I am also busy filling out adopting papers for neighbors who ask me for a
start of x, y or q.
