John had a good list. Let's see.....
>>Clealy, Bill, you just like the wrong iris. You need to pick your
favorite iris by more logical criteria:
1)Iris which have been most widely promoted/distributed to convention
gardens.<<
Given the problems some conventions have had wrt the elements, you could
easily say the contrary is true. Either that or my attendance is the
kiss of death.
>>2)Iris introduced by recently deceased hybridizers whose iris were
never worth noticing before.<<
Don't know any recently deceased hybridizers personally since I don't
have a direct line. However, see '4' below.
>>3)Iris matching the color of an old-time AIS judge's favorite
tablecloth.<<
I'll vote for a plaid iris anyday. Especially if it's my tartan.
>>4)Iris with really pretty names, or named after famous people.<<
Rosalie, are you there? You qualify twice.
>>5)All iris introduced in widely distributed glossy color catalogs.<<
"Victoria's Secret" should displace "Victoria Falls" real soon.
>>6)Any Dykes medal winner, because "it must grow well for somebody,
somewhere else in the country".<<
And if it doesn't, then it must be English.
No bulletin here yet.
Best regards,
Sandy Ives in Ottawa (Who urges all AIS members to send in their
symposium ballot. Don't vote for anything, just send it in - I'll get a
high percentage of ballots and low actual workload.)
