Hi chatters,
Here's my dream: a medal that is awarded to the iris that is judged to
be the best performer overall in the widest range of climates. It would
take the proof of reports from, say x number of zones in which that iris
grows and blooms well. I would say maybe that's a "symposium" iris in a
way, but a favorite iris is not always the one that blooms and increases best
for you. Sometimes my favorite irises are ones that are a bit doggish in
growth or bud count but it does bloom every year in that love it color(or
color combination). So that one I'd vote for on the symposium ballot, but
the best overall performing iris in my garden would be a different vote.
BTW, my overall best performer vote this year would again be WINTERLAND.
Those wild temp swings, near drought conditions and it STILL bloomed great.
Maybe this would just be a "performance pick for 2002" ...waddya say list?
