Since Walter says he had two packets of irises lying on the floor all
day unopened, I guess some of you folks probably think it's pretty silly
to get as excited as I do about the arrival of an iris order, but sorry,
I can't help it.... :-[ When a new box arrives I tear into it like my
children used to do their presents on Christmas morning.
After planting 56 daylilies in the last couple of days, I needed a
boost. Well, I received my Sutton order today and I am so pleased and
excited that I have to share that with someone, so you folks are it!
Besides, when you try to explain how neat these elongated potatoes with
green sprouts are to a non-iris person, their eyes glaze over and then
they begin to look at you kinda funny..... ;-)
Anyway, this is my second year to order from Sutton and I am once again
ecstatic about the order I received. Packaging was impeccable, rhizomes
big, gorgeous, and healthy looking, substitutions much nicer than the
ones I ordered, and then there are the *bonuses*. Quantity of bonuses
quite simply unbelievable and value....Gulp! I feel like I mighta robbed
'em!
I'll send them a personal e-mail with my thanks, but couldn't resist
posting this, too, for any new folks to the list. I know most of you
know of Suttons, especially since Mike is active on this list, but for
any newcomers who are looking for a source for reasonably priced irises
of excellent quality from an excessively generous company, Sutton's is
great in my book!
Three more smaller orders from other companies should be arriving soon -
all first time orders for me. Will I be posting three more messages like
this?... ;-)
Bill Wells (in southern MO where it rained today to settle in the newly
planted daylilies, and I discovered the most beautiful wildflowers
growing in my pasture - a gentian in both pink and white forms - some of
which are now happily transplanted into more visible spots in some
borders nearer the house)
