Hi William:
You know, I don't know what it is about us mature adults, many of us
grandparents, some great-grandparents who have been over life's road and
tasted and relished life's joys and pleasures; our wedding, giving/witnesses
the birth of our first child, first words. . . etc., etc. . . . .all these
truly wondrous happenings and we turn into six year olds when we get an
order of IRIS!!!
NOTHING excites me more than that first order being received of the
season. It's as though I never saw rhizomes before. . or that I never saw
the name printed out on a tag . . . Why do I have to touch, fondle, handle
and study each and every rhizome? I've even picked them up and SMELLED them.
. .and then looked around to see if my husband saw me! And gawdamighty. . .
come planting time! It's akin to a rocket lift off for me! The joy, the
sensuality of the feel of the soil, the smell of damp soil and the rhizome.
. . the layout. . .the making of the map. . .the name tags. . .
. . . .I've said enough!! I've been on Iris-Talk long enough to know
that most of you will know EXACTLY how I feel!! But I just had to put it on
paper and share it. I really am a fairly normal woman. . . honest!!! I am!!!
