On another list there is a message about iris pseudacorus I found
very interesting and am sure Ellen will, too.
The poster quotes from the New Hampshire Co-operative
Extension Service. 'Iris pseudacorus is banned from deliberate
sale, cultivation, or transport in NH.'
I have grown only one clone of pseudacorus that I found to be
invasive, and I left it at my former residence for the new owners to
enjoy. I did plant seed from it, and have one very nice, non-
invasive seedling that I would have difficulty parting with if
pseudacorus were banned here.
I am wondering if any of the robustas have escaped. The ones
I grew were bullies and tried to take over the entire bog until I shot
them with Roundup. They were impossible to dig, and I couldn't
afford to employ anybody with a backhoe and a front-end loader to
do the removal work for me. I consider robustas to be more
invasive than pseudacorus.
