Hi Janet,
As I recall, Witch's Wand is known to be a fussy grower in zone 5. There
was a thread either last year or the year before on red-bearded blacks. You
can do a search and see what others have recommended.
Night Game has grown reasonably well for us in the past two years, and did
well this year through the freeze-thaws and long cool spring and torrential
rains just before peak bloom.
We have one or two other red-bearded blacks, but I don't recall what they
are.

Hi all,
Has anybody in zone 4 (or colder) ever successfully grown the TB Witch's
Wand? I'm on my second try and it looks like it will die out once again. I
was so smitten with the color combination of a "black" iris with a tangerine
beard. Perhaps someone can recommend another variety that is similar....one
that has a chance of surviving a zone 4 wacky winter of freezing and
thawing? I'd even buy one named Chimpanzee Lips ;-)
