I'm sure it will be fine when it settles into a decent life. It has been
tortured, having been in non-wetting dry sandy rubbish soil, then lived in a
black plastic pot until very root bound, suffered extremes of temperature,
innundated by rain after the shift, and now adapting to a heavy clay loam,
in a raised bed of course. The irises are looking good. I didn't have time
to divide them so I planted them root bound and all, and they would have
taken a bit of time to recover from that and put their roots into the soil
here, but they are putting up new growth, if just a little lush.
Gardening this morning, I couldn't help noticing what lovely things new
growth tips and buds are. Everywhere I look, there are promises of things to
come very soon. This will be the first real Spring in my new garden! I will
have to start doing my 'Snoopy' dance soon, with flowers in my hair, arms
(paws?) flung wide, and head back :-)
Cheers, Jan, zone 8ish Australia
