Re: CULT: fresh seeds vs waiting

Most folks plant in the fall and let normal winter chilling and rain do
the work rather than all this fussing around I'm doing.

One of our local hybridizers (Tom Parkhill) always plants at
Thanksgiving - it's about the right time and he says that way the
holiday reminds him to get it done. When I plant outdoors, it's usually
in December. Our first frost is generally mid-October also, so maybe
Thanksgiving would be the right time for you too, if the ground isn't
frozen.

<I only have a few seed pods with ripe seeds (my first time hybridizing)
and I live in the upper midwest (Zone 5 - SE WI). First frost is
generally mid-October and hard freeze not long after that. Generally
lots of snow cover and cold temps 'til April - GENERALLY. So do I stick
my seeds in my fridge until spring or plant
them now and hope for a long growing season? Thanks in advance. Pat
