Re: AIS: Soap Box #10 (!) ( was OT-Terminology)

I'm looking through the handbook to see what else can be annoying about
AIS shows (other than me).

As per Walter, I prefer 'Queen of Show' to 'Best Specimen of Show'
together with the large purple rosette, however I have a lot of breaths
left to take so I let this pass. Perhaps the former title implies size
whereas the latter implies quality.

However, I really don't like "Runners-up" with the associated small
purple rosette. I find that "Queen's Bench" or "Queen and Her Court" to
be far more in keeping with an iris show.

I haven't judged a lot of iris shows, but my experience has been... keep
it moving! Get it done, get the show open to the public, and get lost
(for at least an hour). Let everyone disagree with you, but that's what
"People's Choice" is all about.

Sandy Ives in Ottawa (where the digging is over for the day, but the
clean-up is calling...)
