Re: Re: CULT: mulch/alfalfa

I was going to ask about mulches. I use a light bark mulch on my iris. There
is a mild fertilizer in the mulch as well. But now I have started worrying
about covering the rhizomes with the bark mulch and wondered if I should
bare them. The iris have thrived but now of course they are in their
expansion cycle.
I haven't had time to do my usual reading with a vegetable garden to tend
to. The iris are on a west facing slope and they do bake in our Okanagan
sun.
I have kept two seed pods on the iris and they are getting huge. This is all
new to me but plan on trying to follow through with these and hopefully
germinate and plant them. I enjoy doing things like this.
I read all your posts to help me learn as much as I can, sort of the fast
track to learning by other's experiences.
