Also, if you live where it is breezy, trimming helps keep them from blowing
over before their roots take hold.

I need advice from the list.  I will be transplanting soon. Should I cut the
foliage back to a "fan" shape prior to moving? or leave it tall?  I have TB
irises (I Think-did not bloom this year-haven't been divided in years).
