Verbal descriptions of Iris suffer from all the same type of problems we have with photos and so far the best way to make them consistent has been the use of color charts. The charts themselves are of little value if no one has access to them because of cost. There are no cheap ones although I would not be surprised if one might be able to get a great deal on e-bay. I suspect that now they run between $150-200. This is a great burden for most individuals. I would propose that a great project would be for each AIS affiliate to raise the money for a chart that could be used by its members. Perhaps there are already members of a club that have a chart and would make it available. But the more charts around the more useful the information becomes. Perhaps even more descriptions in checklists could have the data added. I would suggest that using The most used chart (RHS) would be better than many different charts. Although any chart provides better documentation than none. I am curious
what others think. Thank Kelly for introducing the subject.

Thanks!

And when it is gone, it shall be gone forever.
All our television will not bring it back to us,
and none of our spacecraft can take us to where it vanished. It is the
last fading voice of the prairie wilderness, echoing after the lost
clouds of curlews and plovers, crying farewell.
