RE: TB: CULT: Brown Tips on Leaves?

Mat, since you are so close to the Atlantic, there might be salt
deposition. You are far enough away not to get salt spray, but seems
like I remember reading that coastal storms can carry salt many miles
inland, depending on how much wave action there is. Waves move a
surprising amount of salt into the air. And if the soil is mostly sand,
salt problems will show up faster than in heavier soil.

If it rains a lot, the ocean salt+fertlizer salt will leach out (wash
down deep in the ground) and won't be a problem. If the weather's been
dry and hot, or if plants are overfertilized, it might.

Here, where it has <finally> quit raining for at least a couple of days,
salt buildup certainly isn't a problem, but leaf tips (or as much as
whole leaves) on vulnerable cultivars turn brown - bacterial rot (leaf
spot/soft rot).
