Re: OT-Bio Arlene

Hi, Arlene, and welcome to the list. It's a place where you can always learn
things, and there is always somebody in your area on the list, too, it seems,
who can give good advice for the locale. You, for example, in El Paso, have
such different growing conditions from mine in northwest Iowa, that I couldn't
help you much. But there are people on the list who are in west Texas and
Arizona, so they'll be good sources of information for your area. I hope
you'll enjoy this list as much as I do.
As to the iris you bought, somebody gave you a bum steer concerning the
hybridizers. That often happens when you buy from a place that doesn't deal
just in irises, as I've learned by experience, too.
Here's information on the ones you named.
Cherry Garden, SDB, intro. by Bennett Jones, 1967
Breakers, by Schreiners, 1986
Immortality, by Lloyd Zurbrigg, 1982 (well known as a rebloomer in many areas,
though it doesn't do so
    with any consistency for me)
Superstition, by Schreiners, 1977. Fairly old, but a great black, vigorous
and floriferous.
Again, welcome to the list. Enjoy!

Arnold
