HIST: COMP: tough old things

Search of the additions to the online database turned up few descendants
of some of the tough oldies that I am interested in:  only 7 registered
descendants of SHANNOPIN, 17 from HELEN COLLINGWOOD, 10 from SHAH JEHAN,
and 8 from INDIAN CHIEF.

I noticed that some entries aren't complete so maybe all the older
checklists haven't been added yet?

But if these numbers are right, I wonder why so few introductions from
these  tough old things? Maybe some opportunities for crosses with
modern cultivars.
