Re: CULT: rain
You have my sympathies, Griff.
It finally rained here a bit, enough to turn the grass green again and I
heard lawnmowers again the other day for the first time I can remember
in a long time. Some surrounding areas got up to 2 inches; only about
3/4 here, but it was appreciated! First rain more than a hundredth of
an inch since ... maybe early June?
Last I heard we were still around 14 inches below average rainfall. The
silver lining is that it has really knocked the weeds for a loop! :-)
Seedlings with heavy chip mulch look really good in the strong crosses
but I suspect I lost several of the weak ones. Add those to the losses
from the spring freeze.. Not expecting to see much bloom on new
seedlings before spring, even those planted last year just haven't had
enough decent weather to get big enough. High temperatures up to cold
weather & no rain last fall, freeze this spring setting everything back,
then no rain again.
A few here and there are huge, and they have potential to be rebloomers,
so am keeping my fingers crossed...
But it's been a discouraging year, for sure.
