Thanks Colleen. The Schreiner website photo isn't very attractive, but I do remember us looking at it and discussing what a unique bloom it was with that combination of yellow beard on black flower.
I don't remember what all else we discussed, but one comment you made stuck in my mind - that it would make a good commercial iris because many? of your customers are always looking for something new and different and wouldn't care too much about anything else. And that this struck us as one of the most unique ones we saw that day in the seedling rows.
Which makes me think we thought it had some faults? or I should say didn't suit our tastes. I don't remember what, but maybe it was the width.

Good memory on your part. Nice colouring, but a bit narrow for my taste.
