In one of the SLI publications, Dr. Small, the earlier chronicler
of La irises in the 20's and 30's, mentions seeing various species growing
in FL, hexagona and fulva, maybe. I will have to look it up.

Iris hexagona grows abundantly throughout Florida north to south. I viewed
its many shades of blue in the Spring, many nearby my former residence. I.
hexagona makes up one of the 5 species of Louisiana Iris. Iris fulva is
found in Louisiana and up the Mississippi Valley, but not in Florida
naturally.
