Not so! Unless by ID you mean that it is a collected, numbered clone. I=

that case, if propagated by division the numbered clone should perform as=
consistently as any named cultivar. But species are normally propagated=
by seed and color variation is to be expected.
In general, a species is defined by certain traits -- starting with numbe=
r
and types of chromosomes and including a lot of plant characteristics. =
Flower color is a relatively minor consideration. =
