	I dried them out as well.  California grown irises that were
'forced' seemed to be especially  prone to the 'baked potato' syndrome if 
planted out into the open garden.  I still let them dry out for two or
three weeks.

	Bob Brooks (Cordon Bleu Farms, not out of business) had unusual
procedures.  He shaved the roots off new arrivals, dried the plants out
to the point of looking like dried up ears of corn, and then peeled off
the dry leaves.  After his ground was worked up, he literally dropped the 
rhizomes to the ground and with his foot 'stomped' them into the soil.  He
got wonderful results and shipped beautiful plants.

	Again, to each his own....whatever works for you in your part of
the world, go for it!

	Look for Schreiners procedure for planting in a previous issue of
the Bulletin (maybe three or four years back).  It would be great if there
were indexes to the BAIS, and this would be so easy to find.  Somebody
mentioned it here on the List just recently.
