No. Think "we", not "they". AIS offers products to its own members, the=
same members whose interests the Board represents in setting policy. =
It COULD be run like a business, or course, with the customary
wholesale/retail spread. As an AIS member, would you favor raising dues=
to cover salary and keep the prices down? As a customer/member, would yo=

rather pay $10 for an R&I booklet and know your order will be handled in =

businesslike manner, or $6 and understand that it will be handled when th=

The perception has been that AIS members want BOTH low dues and low price=
s
so the policy has been to rely on volunteers -- although finding reliabl=
e
volunteers for this job is something of a challenge. Anyone who feels th=
e
answer is raising the dues to cover salary, or raising the prices to cove=
r
commission needs to inform Board members. Otherwise, the perception will=
persist that the majority of members favor the status quo.
