Hi all,
We got moved to our new farm (in Chase Creek, for those of you who knows
where that is) and I got the 19 TBs that we brought with us planted.
We've been having a funny year here in BC as far as the weather goes.
Two weeks of hot warm desert like weather in May was followed by 70 days
of rain. The day we moved and had to start fencing on 151 acres, the sun
came out! It stayed out until I got the irises planted several days
later. My daughter was helping me plant and got so hot I had to send her
inside for fear of sunstroke. I finished off the job, and being engulfed
in sweat, enjoyed the breeze that came up. I had just enough time to go
inside and shower, then return outside to tarp up everything that needed
cover before the rains came again. A thunderstorm struck and lasted from
mid morn until after supper. The same storm, while doing no damage here,
struck the fruit tree farms that BC is famous for and wiped out about
75% of the apple crop. This after the winter that was history making
wiped out most of the soft fruit crop. My irises look fine although I've
been thinking that they may not be the right species for this year. ; >)
Ain't gardening grand? Had to chuckle after reading Marte's comment >
where the two rain showers yesterday & today didn't add up to enough to
settle the dust but did freshen the air nicely! The same is supposed to
be said for this area this time of the year!!
Better luck to you all,
Sharron
