Out here in the second driest state rainfall is very uncommon between
mid-June and mid-September (even the thunderstorms are usually *dry* - the
rain evaporates before it reaches the ground). I generally give the
established plantings of TBs and other bearded iris a good soak every 10 to
14 days and douse the Siberians (which are heavily mulched) often enough to
keep them from ever drying out completely.
