I think you are wrong. You pay a full year membership, and get all back
issues, regardless of what time of year you join. Of course, you would get
a renewal notice again fairly quickly if you join very late in the year. At
this time, memberships are on a calendar year -- all memberships are
renewable in January, not on the anniversary of when you join.
