Your description brings to mind times I spent in Alsaka and Adak. It always
amazed me how so much beauty could literally jump up out of browned-out
tundra. The season seemed so short, and everything had to grow and bloom
before the season turned again. One day the tundra would be dry and brown, the
next (it seemed) it was green and full of flowers in full bloom. It always
presented such an intense display.
