CULT: Problem plant with pale leaves

From: Daryl/Kathy Haggstrom <hagg@alaska.net>

A new list is a surprising turn of events but I like that it is quite
close to the old format, which worked well.

I'm having a problem with an Iris setosa that I was hoping someone might
have some insight into. It has grown up this year with all of the
interior blades appearing white. It looks very much like a plant with a
severe iron deficiency, though the outer blades are green. I was waiting
to see what the bloom would look like before trying any remedy, and the
blossom is regular colored. It just appears to be affecting the leaves.
I am thinking of dosing it with iron to see if that will correct the
problem.

All other plants in the vicinity are completely normal. I have a vague
memory that this plant may have had a limited problem with pale leaves
last year, which went ahead and corrected itself by late summer, but I
may be wrong about which plant it was.

I'm not convinced it is an iron problem, but it doesn't seem like it
would hurt anything to add iron.

Has anyone had similar problems with their iris?

As for a bloom report, let us say I am inundated with purple. I have
seen several beautiful vistas of tones of iris against a backdrop of
massive walls of wild rose bushes, or growing through lacy horsetail in
a eerily ethereal cove or blowing in rolling waves of purple on the
windy flats. I cannot create beauty equal to these scenes so I am going
to be satisfied with trying to bring the essense of such visions into
the flowers I cross instead of trying to create large artificial
specimens. Anyway, thanks for any input.
