I don't grow any of the newer cultivars, but have seen pictures of many.
To my mind, EDITH WOLFORD is still very distinctive. It is VERY
ruffled. The first year it bloomed for me, the branching was very short
and it looked like a puff ball. Also, the colours are very clear and
make a bold contrast. I'm not sure that I would call the standards
mustard yellow. But there have been some years where the colouring has
not been quite as bold.
In contrast, I also grew LULLABY OF SPRING. Next to EDITH WOLFORD it
looked faded. On its own, it is a pleasing harmony of pastel tones.
Many of the newer cultivars tend more to the pastel tones and some have
larger flowers.
