Funny your saying you don't grow "any of the newer cultivars" -- to
someone who mostly has irises intro'd in the early part of this century
or in the 1800's, EW's date of 1986 makes it a very new cultivar
indeed!

Whatever it is that I have IS very ruffled & the falls are virtually
horizontal. The color contrast is pretty bold & I should emphasize that
the yellow standards have just a slight mustard tone, at least to my
eyes. But I'm not yet convinced it's EW & don't know of anyone "local"
who has a reliably-named EW in bloom to compare mine to. (Denver's TB
bloom is over so no hope there.) Best bet, natch, is to acquire a known
EW & plant 'em together then check the blooms out next summer -- I may
even do this!

L of S may in fact be one of the ones I've seen photos of that I
mentioned as being "similar" to EW, at least in basic color combo.
